Ingredients
Scale
Tuna Mixture
- 2 cans (5 ounces each) tuna packed in water, drained and flaked
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Fresh Additions
- 1 medium crisp apple such as Honeycrisp or Fuji, cored and diced
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped celery
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped red onion
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Prepare Tuna: In a medium bowl, add the drained tuna and gently break it into flakes with a fork to achieve a flaky texture.
- Add Apple and Lemon: Add the diced apple to the bowl and immediately toss it with the fresh lemon juice to prevent browning and add brightness to the salad.
- Mix Dressing and Vegetables: Stir in the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, finely chopped celery, red onion, and fresh parsley evenly throughout the mixture.
- Season and Combine: Sprinkle in the salt and black pepper, mixing thoroughly. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed for a balanced flavor.
- Chill: Cover the salad and chill in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld and improve taste.
Notes
- For a lighter version, substitute half the mayonnaise with Greek yogurt.
- This salad is delicious served on whole grain bread, croissants, as lettuce cups, or alongside crackers.
