Description

This Apple Tuna Salad is a refreshing and healthy no-cook recipe combining flaked tuna with crisp apple chunks, tangy lemon juice, and a creamy mayonnaise-Dijon dressing. It’s perfect for a quick lunch or light dinner and can be served on bread, croissants, lettuce cups, or crackers.

Ingredients

Scale

Tuna Mixture

  • 2 cans (5 ounces each) tuna packed in water, drained and flaked
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Fresh Additions

  • 1 medium crisp apple such as Honeycrisp or Fuji, cored and diced
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped celery
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped red onion
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Prepare Tuna: In a medium bowl, add the drained tuna and gently break it into flakes with a fork to achieve a flaky texture.
  2. Add Apple and Lemon: Add the diced apple to the bowl and immediately toss it with the fresh lemon juice to prevent browning and add brightness to the salad.
  3. Mix Dressing and Vegetables: Stir in the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, finely chopped celery, red onion, and fresh parsley evenly throughout the mixture.
  4. Season and Combine: Sprinkle in the salt and black pepper, mixing thoroughly. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed for a balanced flavor.
  5. Chill: Cover the salad and chill in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld and improve taste.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute half the mayonnaise with Greek yogurt.
  • This salad is delicious served on whole grain bread, croissants, as lettuce cups, or alongside crackers.
