Ingredients
Scale
Lasagna Noodles
- 12 San Giorgio lasagna noodles
Meat Sauce
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 26 oz pasta sauce (preferably marinara)
Cheese Mixture
- 32 oz ricotta cheese
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
Toppings
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the lasagna layers.
- Cook the Noodles: Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water to prevent sticking, then set aside.
- Prepare Meat Sauce: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with chopped onion and minced garlic until browned, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary. Stir in the pasta sauce and mix until well combined.
- Prepare Ricotta Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, beaten eggs, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and well incorporated.
- Assemble the Lasagna: In a 9×13-inch baking dish, spread one-third of the meat sauce on the bottom. Layer about 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the ricotta mixture evenly over the noodles and sprinkle with 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Second Layer: Add another one-third of the meat sauce, a second layer of noodles, the remaining ricotta mixture, and another cup of mozzarella cheese.
- Final Layer: Place the last noodles on top, spread the remaining meat sauce over them, then sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Bake: Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the lasagna is hot and bubbly.
- Rest and Serve: Remove from the oven and let the lasagna sit, covered, for about 15 minutes. Slice into portions and serve warm. Enjoy your delicious homemade San Giorgio Lasagna!
Notes
- To prevent noodles from sticking when cooking, rinse them in cold water immediately after boiling.
- Drain excess fat from the cooked ground beef to reduce greasiness.
- Use fresh parsley for the best flavor in the ricotta mixture.
- Covering the lasagna with foil while baking keeps the cheese from burning and helps cook the layers evenly.
- Letting the lasagna rest before cutting helps it set and makes slicing easier.
