Description

Sweet Cinnamon Milk Tea is a comforting and aromatic beverage made by steeping black tea with cinnamon sticks, then blending it with warm milk, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. This delightful drink combines the rich flavors of cinnamon and vanilla with the smoothness of milk, making it perfect for cozy afternoons or anytime you crave a sweet, spiced tea.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea Base

  • 2 cups water
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 3 black tea bags (or 1 tbsp loose-leaf black tea)

Milk Mixture

  • 1½ cups milk (2% or whole milk recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Boil Water with Cinnamon: In a saucepan, bring 2 cups of water and 3 cinnamon sticks to a boil over medium heat. This step infuses the water with warm cinnamon flavor, creating a fragrant base for the tea.
  2. Steep the Tea: Remove the saucepan from heat and add 3 black tea bags. Cover the pot and let the tea steep for 7 minutes to fully extract the tea and cinnamon flavors. Then, remove the tea bags and cinnamon sticks.
  3. Warm the Milk: While the tea is steeping, heat 1½ cups of milk in a separate pan or microwave until warm, but not boiling. Warming the milk helps blend it smoothly with the tea later.
  4. Combine Ingredients: Stir 1 tablespoon maple syrup and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract into the brewed tea. Then gently add the warmed milk and stir to combine all the ingredients thoroughly.
  5. Serve & Enjoy: Pour the sweet cinnamon milk tea into cups and serve immediately. Optionally, garnish with a cinnamon stick or a sprinkle of ground cinnamon to enhance the presentation and flavor.

Notes

  • Chai-Inspired: Add a pinch of nutmeg, cardamom, or cloves for extra spice and depth.
  • Dairy-Free: Substitute dairy milk with almond, oat, or coconut milk for a vegan or lactose-free version.
  • Iced Version: Let the tea cool completely, then serve over ice for a refreshing cold drink.
  • Extra Frothy: Use a milk frother to create a creamy, café-style texture and enhance the drinking experience.
